3 Frugal, Green Cleaning Tips

How to Choose From Engagement Rings

When shopping for an engagement ring in diamond, platinum, or else, there are 3 main steps you should follow:
  1. First you choose the center stone. Popular choices are diamonds, rubies, emeralds, and sapphires. But depending on taste, some women may enjoy more unique stones that are not widely seen on other people's fingers.
  2. Choose the shape of the center stone. Popular designs are: round brilliant, princess (square brilliant), emerald cut, marquise, oval, pear, heart, and trillion. Get a good feel of the look for your engagement rings.
  3. Choose the precious metal and style of setting. Many settings are created for a certain shape and size of gems. First, study the type of finger jewelry that she wears to get an idea of her style and preferences. Then choose the setting that matches best with the stone. Some women prefer gold jewelry while others enjoy silver, white gold, and platinum - the white metals. If she like silver, you don't want to get an expensive diamond set in silver, so your best choices would be either white gold or platinum. Platinum rings are the most durable and expensive in all of ring making, and usually only go with really good quality diamonds and rubies. Emeralds are usually set in yellow gold because they enhance the color of green.
To take the guesswork out of choosing a diamond engagement ring, Tacori has got you covered. Their selection of diamond engagement rings feature unique pieces set by talented artisans that shape, refine, and embellish each selection.

How to Keep Your Workspace Clean

One of the things that wars against our productivity (and does a disservice to others' perception of our ability to get things done) is having an unsightly work area. From crumbs, to loosely scattered paper, to things unrelated to your task at hand taking up your workspace - all these things should be kept to a bare minimum for maximum productivity.

Below are some tips:

Keep cleaning supplies within reach. Storing paper towels and multi-surface cleaner in or near your desk for small spills and general cleanup is an effective way to keep your work surface area clean.

Open your mail over the trash bin. This way all loose bits of envelope and paper don't find their way onto your desk, taking up valuable work space.

Use your computer for dates and addresses. By choosing to do away with the desk planner and spiral address book you've kept for years in favor of electronically storing (and synchronizing with your cellular device) this information, you are clearing up a lot of space in your work area.

Productivity Principles to Live By

No matter how capable or gifted we may be, it’s an illusion to think we can do it all. As my favorite productivity adage goes, we can do anything, but not everything. At every moment, we’re presented with infinite possibilities — we really could be doing anything! But freedom to do whatever we set our sights on comes at a price, and the price is that we need to constantly make choices about what really matters to us.
These choices, at the most fundamental level, always boil down to how we allocate and spend our time... (Read the rest of the post at LiteMind.com)

Feeling Overwhelmed? Cut Back on Your Workload

It may feel like at work, school, or home so many things are demanding your attention, stretching you more thin than you can handle. It's okay to cut back on your workload sometimes to clear your head, ultimately rendering you more productive. Here's what you can do:

Step back. Stop whatever you're doing and take a few minutes to clear your head and think. Perhaps even take a walk to get some fresh air.

Make a list. Compile all of your to-do's into one list so that you can see at a glance everything that needs to be done.

Set limits. Choose which tasks must be completed today and do those only. Tomorrow, do the same.

Eliminate, then prioritize. Anything that can be delegated to someone else, do so to get them off your list. Also, cross off everything that is not absolutely pertinent to get done. If you're overwhelmed already, save those things for another time. With everything left on your to-do list, prioritize these tasks so that they are completed as efficiently and in the most ideal time frame possible.

Structure your workday. Structure your day around the times that you are most productive and have the resources to get each task completed.
